The Arts Management Services

Arts Management Services is designed to address many of the issues and concerns that performing artists from many disciplines are faced with in the 21st Century. Since originally creating a management company that became primarily a booking agency, Joanne has selected to re-direct her energies into looking at what makes an artist successful in today’s market. It used tobe that with a few good photos, a bio/resume and a work sample, artists would get hired on the basis of their talent and their expertise. The world has changed a great deal over that past fifteen to twenty years. Booking artists is a much moredaunting task. It’s time to take a fresh look at what works best and to see how that will fit into the creation of a “total” package for the performing artist.

What Arts Management Services proposes to do for each artist is to evaluate that artist on several points. Those willinclude prior performance history and performing experience, current goals and achievements, willingness to make changes to current press materials including written information and photos. It is essential for the artist to have the patience to know that going from a lower rung on the ladder to a higher one takes time. It is absolutely critical that the artist have access to adequate financial resources to assist in the management process and/or to be able to find sources of revenue via sponsorships, grants and other means. Arts Management Services will definitely be a integral part of the fundraising process,since this is vitally important for the creation and implementation of special projects that may include producing CDs, upgrading existing press materials and any other media which supports the artist’s career.

Unlike the entertainment field where one has a publicist, a booking agent, a manager and others, in the performing arts arena, it is incumbent upon the “manager” to wear many hats, certainly more in the current climate of dwindling resources and staffs that should support the artist once the contract is signed. Arts Management Services is a partner, not only with the performing artist, but with the symphony orchestra, the opera company and the performing arts series, so that the appearance
of the artist, regardless of the genre, is guaranteed to be successful, from the time the contract is signed to the end of the engagement.

For anyone who might be inclined to submit their materials for our consideration, please send a brief email explaining who you are (ie. pianist, conductor, singer, etc.) and what you do. If we are interested, you will receive a reply. We never review any artist if directed only to a website. Artists’ materials are only reviewed between the months of February through mid-May each calendar year.
